Karthikeyan is a 35 year veteran in the Refinery & Petrochemical Industry level in the field of Process Engineering & Project Management. His contribution extends to institutions like Bharat Petroleum, Oil Industry Safety Directorate [OISD], India & MTBE Malaysia Sdn. Bhd [MMSB] [wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS], in Malaysia.

He has hands on experience in Plant operation & Process Optimization in units like Fluid catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU), Crude distillation unit, Aromatics reformer Unit, Hexane Manufacturing unit, Utilities , Offsite facilities and MTBE/Propylene Oleflex Unit.

He led team of Engineers and carried out numerous conceptual studies and Investigations which were implemented successfully for trouble free and /or improved performance of process units/equipment. Few of his successful accomplishments are listed below:

• Project Director for the “n-Butane manufacturing project at MMSB”. This project was successfully completed in 2004-05, without time & cost over run.
• Served as Leader for the “All India Refinery Fuel and Loss Activity Committee” comprises of members from all the operating Refineries in India (1989 - 1992).
• As a team leader Conducted Energy audit in the Refineries.
• Head of the Task Force to develop Process to convert “Gas to middle distillate” using the domestic catalysts and process.
• Member of the Task Force to study Computerization in BPCL Refinery (1991).
• Leader of the Task Force to study the feasibility for a grassroots refinery Project in India. This study was carried out with M/s. Shell International Petroleum BV [1994 to 1995]
• Have carried out many Energy saving schemes successfully in the refinery during his tenure at the Technical Services Department.

He has authored and presented various technical papers in National conferences on topics like, Maximization/Optimization in Crude processing & Product yields, Catalytic Reactor models.

He served in Petrochemical & Refinery Industries at various capacities starting from Shift Engineer and to Deputy General Manager and Director [Process] in Ministry of Petroleum, India.
